For at least a year now, Millie has asked for every damn toy that is advertised. So we started telling her to ask Santa, not us- even though we still have to hear about it.
"Mommy- I'm gonna ask Santa for a Bratz doll"
"Sorry Millie- you can't have Bratz, they are too sassy!"
"but when I'm older I can"
"No Millie, you can't EVER have Bratz, I don't want you to be a sassy girl like they are"
"Mommy, I'm gonna ask Santa for a REAL kitty"
"Millie- Santa can't bring a kitty in his sleigh, it's too cold outside"
"but Santa can put it in a box"
"Mommy, I'm gonna ask Santa for a bubble bath blower"
"Mommy, I'm gonna ask Santa for a mermaid"
"Mommy, I'm gonna ask Santa for the Dora Snow Princess game"
"Mommy, I'm gonna ask Santa for a My Little Pony"
"Mommy I'm gonna ask Santa for a new movie"
Dang it, I wish
"Santa" would have budgeted better this year and saved enough money back to buy everything her little heart desires.

I have a lot of really good Christmas memories. None of which are about what was under the tree. Engage with your children because that is what they will remember.
Em does the same thing. You know that after Christmas she will love everything she got and never mention the things she didn't get!
I have the same problem, like I mentioned on Syd's blog, Mattie is the same way. Everything he sees he wants, and I have learned that I can't get him everything and I don't want to. We decided between a friend and I this year to make our kids get another kid something for Christmas so they give another child a good Christmas. As much as he fought it, I think he will be glad when he is older. And I agree with Aimee, it's about more then the presents, 10 years from now she won't remember what she got this year. Just know kids will be kids!
i hate bratz dolls and yet matt's family has insisted on buying her stuff that is bratz. i finally gave up on that one.
